EBL Joins ProQuest

In January we announced that an agreement had been signed for the acquisition of EBL by ProQuest. We are pleased to say that on May 13, 2013, this acquisition was completed. EBL is now a ProQuest business. I have joined ProQuest as the Vice President and General Manager of the combined ebook business unit. Happily, the team who worked so successfully with me at EBL will also be joining ProQuest. Over the next 18 months, we will work to combine the best of both ebrary and EBL, enjoying a stronger foundation from which to build. In the meantime, we will continue to develop and support the EBL platform, including the upcoming release of the new LibCentral administrative portal. Meanwhile, please continue to work directly with your EBL representatives, purchase EBL content though your existing workflows, and use the same EBL support channels. Until further notice, we will deliver invoices as we’ve done in the past. As President of EBL my goal was to bring value to academic libraries. Our models and products have been developed collaboratively over many years, based on invaluable ideas from a talented cast of librarians and publishers. These ideas and values will continue to drive our work under ProQuest, but with even more tools to bring you additional value. We will ask for your ideas as we integrate EBL and ebrary, and we will see to it that you receive regular updates on our thinking and developments. For me, the growth of EBL from a small company in Western Australia to a respected contributor to the evolving role of monographs in libraries around the world has been a defining experience. Thank you for your interest, goodwill, and support. My coworkers and I look forward to working with you in this new capacity and will continue to do our best on your behalf. We very much look forward to working with you and if you have any queries, please email info@eblib.com.
